Instructions for Uploading Videos and Podcasts

 The following is a list of steps you must take to showcase a video on the THEN/HiER website. Please follow these steps in order.

 

1. Sign up for a YouTube or Vimeo account (free of charge) by clicking on this link: (http://www.youtube.com/signup?next=/%3Fhl%3Den) or this link: (http://vimeo.com/sign_up) and following the instructions.
If you have an existing YouTube or Vimeo account, please sign in.

 

2. To upload a video to YouTube, follow the instructions on the YouTube site (copied below):

 

Click the yellow upload button in the upper-right-hand corner of any YouTube page.
Click the "Browse" button to browse for the video file you'd like to upload to our site. Select the file you want to upload.

Click the "Upload Video" button to start the uploading process.
As the video file is uploading, enter as much information about your video as possible in the relevant fields (including Title, Description, Tags, and Category). You're not required to provide specific information, but the more information you include, the easier it is for users to find your video!

Click the "Save changes" button to save the updates you've made to the video file.

Keep in mind it may take a little while for your file to display on YouTube.

 

To upload a video to Vimeo, follow the instructions on the video upload page on the Vimeo site, or view Vimeo's video upload tutorial:

3. Once your file is uploaded, copy the URL link displayed on the right-hand side of the screen beside your video on YouTube, or, for a Vimeo video, left-click on the video and select "Copy video URL".  You will need this URL to display your video on the THEN/HiER website.

 

4. Once you have the URL, click Create Content in the Contribute section of the website. Click on Video and fill out the form. Areas that require information are marked with a red asterisk. Put the URL link in the box marked "Link".  If you want to add more than one video, repeat the process by clicking "Add Another Item" to add another field for the second video's url, and so on.

 

5. If you choose to write a short description (optional), type your description into the Description box.

The following is a list of steps you must take to showcase a podcast on the THEN/HiER website. Please follow these steps in order.

 

1. Sign up for a PodOmatic account (free of charge) by clicking on this link (https://www.podomatic.com/path/signup) and following the instructions. If you have an existing PodOmatic account, please log in.

 

2. Once you are logged into the PodOmatic site, click on the top menu button "My Podcast."

 

3. Directly underneath the top menu, you will see a link to "Post New Episode." Click here and follow the instructions (copied below).

 

Step 1:  Select Media

4. Once your file is successfully uploaded, the podcast will display on your personal podcast page at the following link:
http://YOURUSERNAME.podomatic.com.
*replace YOURUSERNAME with the username you selected for your PodOmatic account.

You will need the URL to the Permalink for your individual podcast episode to share it on the THEN/HiER website.

 

5. Once you have the URL link, click "Create Content" in the Contribute section of the website. Click on "Podcast" and fill out the form. Areas that require information are marked with a red asterisk. Put the URL link in the box marked "Link."
