Amy von Heyking

Professeure agrégée, University of Lethbridge

Amy von Heyking est professeure agrégée à la Faculty of Education à l’University of Lethbridge en Alberta. Ses intérêts de recherche incluent l’enseignement et l’apprentissage de l’histoire dans les écoles primaires, et l’histoire des programmes scolaires. Elle a publié des articles dans Canadian Journal of Education, History of Education Quarterly, Revue d’histoire de l’éducation et Canadian Social Studies. Elle a rédigé Creating Citizens: History and Identity in Alberta’s Schools, 1905 to 1980 (University of Calgary Press 2006). Elle a contribué à The Anthology of Social Studies: Issues and Strategies for Elementary Teachers (2008) dont les rédacteurs en chef étaient Penney Clark et Roland Case. Elle a rédigé et révisé de nombreux manuels pour l'enseignement des sciences humaines au primaire dont quatre volumes de Teaching with Dear Canada et la série Social Studies Through Literature pour les Éditions Scholastic Canada. Elle est membre du Comité éditorial de Canadian Social Studies.

Les projets de recherche de la professeure von Heyking incluent une enquête faite en classe sur la nature et le développement de l’empathie historique des enfants ainsi qu’une étude historique des programmes scolaires albertains basés sur la foi.
