Black History Month Resources!

February is Black History Month in North America. While the histories of all Canada's peoples should be infused into the curriculum throughout the year, we can take February to remind us the importance of Black Canadian history in our teaching and learning.

This month I encourage you to share links about Black Canadian history, including links about Black History Month, to develop all of our repositories for teaching resources.

Here are a few resources, although this is only scratching the surface:

Passages to Canada

What a great list!

The Historica-Dominion Institute's Passages to Canada program focuses on the Canadian immigrant experience, and has some good tie-ins with Black History Month - you can have a Passages speaker come into your class, or there's a Digital Archive of individuals that can be good for research. They're at http://www.passagestocanada.com.

Great!

That's a great program - Thanks for the link!
