Wills, John S. “Who Needs Multicultural Education? White Students, U.S. History, and the Construction of a Usable Past.” Anthropology and Education Quarterly 27(3) (1996): 365-89.

This focus undermines students' ability to use history as a resource for thinking about contemporary race relations. A multicultural history curriculum is suggested.
