Parks Canada

Parks Canada works to ensure Canada’s cultural and natural heritage are presented and protected in a sustainable manner for the enjoyment, education and appreciation of all Canadians, today and in the future. Parks Canada is responsible for a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites that is recognized as one of the finest and most extensive systems of protected areas in the world.

The Historic Places Initiative (HPI), a federal, provincial and territorial collaboration, notably through the Canadian Register of Historic Places, is aimed at fostering a culture of heritage conservation in Canada.
